About the event
Transgender Awareness Week is a vital time for our community to unite and take action in support of trans individuals and their allies especially as we face an alarming increase in legislative and political attacks on trans rights. This week offers an opportunity to educate ourselves and each other about the diverse experiences of trans people, sharing personal stories that illuminate both challenges and triumphs.
To mark Trans Awareness Week, We Create Space is hosting a community centred conversation for trans+ folk & allies to come together. This 90-minute event is designed to provide a safe space for reflection, mutual support, and collective healing as part of our ongoing commitment to creating environments where we can Learn, Connect, and Grow.
We acknowledge the diverse emotions and intersectional challenges faced by LGBTQ+ communities, particularly those with multiple marginalised identities. In light of the fatigue, fear and frustration many feel due to the current political climate, our aim is to foster an atmosphere of understanding and empowerment, where participants can share experiences, explore coping strategies, and strengthen community bonds.
The space will feature a conversation between Coda Nicolaeff (she/her) & Jua O'Kane (he/they), breakout groups for trans+ individuals & one for allies, collective sharing opportunities, takeaways & grounding exercises.
