About the event

At We Create Space, we see the transformative power of community every single day. For organisations striving to build a more inclusive, engaged, and thriving workplace, we believe community-building isn’t just a solution. It’s the foundation.

Our new series, ‘Community Building 101,’ will explore key factors for successful community development. Each session will provide actionable strategies & tools to promote effective change, collective learning, workplace culture & shared values. We will also discuss how grassroots principles can be applied in corporate settings, through three key pillars: Inclusion, Wellbeing, & Leadership.

Community Building 101: Wellbeing | Voda, the LGBTQIA+ Mental Health App

This session is in collaboration with Voda, the LGBTQIA+ Mental Health App created to support its users as they navigate life’s challenges with expert guidance, wellness tools, and affirming support for every LGBTQIA+ experience.

Voda highlights that being LGBTQIA+ brings with it unique mental health challenges, which means that traditional forms of mental wellbeing are often less relevant to us. Adopting an innovative and evidence-based approach, Voda's programmes teaches its users techniques from the gold standards in psychotherapy, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

Our speakers is Jaron Soh (he/him), Co-Founder, Voda

Hosted by: Michael Stephens (he/they), WCS Founder

Along with an overview & visual demonstration of some of Voda’s tools & resources, Jaron will share insights on his journey as a Queer Leader within the field of tech & entrepreneurship as well as the importance of building wellbeing into communities through:

- Trauma-informed practices

- Peer to peer support

- Access to digital resources

There will also be a guided wellbeing activity facilitated by one of Voda’s expert practitioners.
