(she/her) Kathryn Kathryn is an anthropologist, writer, trainer/facilitator and researcher, who has taught and conducted fieldwork in India, Spain, Italy, the UK and Brazil. She is a gender and LGBTQ equality trainer, with expertise in bystander intervention to prevent sexual and anti-LGBTQ harassment; affirmative action policy; the use of language; and creating safe, LGBTQ affirmative spaces in the workplace and in schools/universities. Kathryn is a feminist activist, passionate about combatting period poverty and helping queer refugees integrate into society. She is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, and English. - Privilege
Privilege In social studies, privilege is defined as the advantages and benefits that individuals receive because of social groups they are perceived to be a part of. In DEI we often describe Privilege as barriers that someone hasn't had to face, simply based on their upbringing, background or identities that they hold - ie race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, immigration status, education, religion, wealth, and class, among many other characteristics. < Back to Glossary

We know that eating a healthy diet can have a huge impact on our wellbeing, but when we really enjoy food, we can also vastly improve our state of mind. (she/they) Awo Awo Dufie is a transgender and intersex researcher, writer and activist from Ghana. As a researcher, her works explore the history of the LGBTIQ community in Ghana and Africa. As an activist, she works to advocate for LGBTIQ elders through her project- Queer Elders Speak- a series where she interviews and documents the lived experiences of LGBTIQ elders in Africa. His work on issues such as sexual racism, LGBT+ mental health inequality, and global LGBT+ human rights has been featured in The Guardian , BBC , MTV , The Independent , Huffington Post and more. He previously worked for the Kaleidoscope Trust, where he supported LGBT+ activists across the world to campaign to decriminalise homosexuality. He has also worked with LinkedIn as part of their LinkedIn Changemakers campaign, which connects businesses to activists to encourage change in the world of work. Archetype A statement, pattern of behaviour, or model which others then replicate or emulate going forward. The archetype has become recognisable or quintessential as a standard of the type in society over generations of human culture - specifically for the LGBTQIA community, this manifests itself in types of people or crowds in the community - who have similar body types, interests or display similar behaviours. < Back to Glossary
- Hispanic
Hispanic People are normally referred to as Hispanic if they are Spanish, of Spanish heritage or come from a country that was previously colonised by Spain. This does not include Brazil, which is a former colony of Portugal, where the native language is Portuguese. A hispanic person can be any race or colour. School to Prison Pipeline A term used primarily in the US to describe the disproportionate amount of young people from disadvantaged communities who end up in the prison system due to harsh, punitive policies in schools and widespread educational inequality. (she/her) Paula Paula spent over 15 years working within the HIV sector, setting up an HIV/AIDS support agency called Body & Soul for women, teenagers, children and families in 1994. She worked to raise awareness of those living with or closely affected by HIV/AIDS, collaborating with The Body Shop, Comic Relief, Children in Need and MTV to bring conversation around HIV into the mainstream.
