About the event
We Create Space x Soho House x Trans History Week present 'Building A Community Movement'.
When it comes to building a community movement, there are many elements & moving parts that need to align in order to create something that is truly impactful, inclusive & sustainable. From leadership, innovation & audience engagement through to the crucial roles of allies, collaborators & supporters.
In partnership with Soho House, where culture and creativity converge, we’re shining a spotlight on Trans+ History Week for this in-person event exploring what it’s like to build a community movement from scratch. Trans+ History Week launched in May 2024 but its origins began as an article.
As it approaches its third year in May 2026, we’ll hear from Founder & Director Marty Davies (she/they) on her role & the story behind Trans+ History Week, its mission to deliver the Trans+ history lesson we never had and what makes this community movement so unique. As well as the core lessons she’s learned along the way - and what others can take-away from these.
We’ll also hear from others involved in Trans+ History Week around their roles in building this growing & successful movement including:
Neil Hudson-Basing (he/him), Events Director for Trans+ History Week
Sabah Choudrey (he/they), Collaborator & Contributor
As well as keynotes from each of our speakers, there will be a panel discussion hosted by David Kam (he/him).
This conversation will highlight building a community movement in a broad sense. The principles of building a community movement can be applied to whatever the cause might be, yet each needs to do so in a way that is authentic, enriching & valuable to the communities it serves.
If you’re passionate about building communities, instilling shared values and driving impactful, long lasting change, we hope you’ll join us for this insightful & timely conversation.
