- Achievement
Achievement In the world we live in, especially when it comes to our careers, a lot of our accomplishments are based on achievements. In the LGBTQIA+ Community, we have achieved a lot, as far as civil rights and acceptance in society. When there is always more to do to improve though, it is sometimes easy to forget to reflect on what we have achieved, and where we have come from. The same applies to all of us on an individual basis - we should all make time to look back and truly appreciate what we have done, and what it took to bring us here today. < Back to Glossary

- Home
Home Having a place we can call home, a space we possibly share with loved ones is a key part of one's existence. Maslow refers to it as a physiological need - sitting at in the foundation of the hierarchy pyramid. Rather than a symbolic place, home can also characterise a 'feeling' that is conducive to our sense of belonging. See: Grounding and Belonging. < Back to Glossary

- Community Care
Community Care If self-care is about what you do for yourself, then community care is what you put into and what you are able to receive from the community you have built around yourself, as well as the community you live in. Practicing community care can look like cleaning for a friend who is going through a tough time, volunteering, donating to mutual aid efforts or getting to know (and helping out) your neighbours. It's essentially how we show up and create space for each other. < Back to Glossary
