By profession, she is in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion with an emphasis on disrupting systems that do not serve underserved communities. (she/her) Jen After spending over 10 years away from her homeland of Thailand, Jen has started a new chapter in Barcelona. Here, she can live her life authentically, being seen and accepted as the woman she truly is. This opportunity has eluded her in her home country, despite Thailand's reputation for being a tolerant place. Thai society, however, seems to fall short of truly embracing individuals like her and her community. Jen's true passion resides in the realm of art and design, where she has found her true calling as a graphic and web designer and future ux/ui design. Through these expressive channels, she channels her boundless creativity and fulfills her artistic ambitions. Although she occasionally grapples with the challenges that come with pursuing her dreams, she cannot help but wonder why her path is sometimes hindered by limitations and discrimination persist even though She already is that woman. After spending years in partnerships and marketing, Max began sharing his own story of gender transition on social media and as a public speaker, aiming to cut through the misinformation and misunderstandings around Trans and LGBTQ+ people. Today he speaks and consults for organisations all over the world to help them better understand, support and celebrate LGBTQ+ team members and customers. As well as discussing the importance of recognising and supporting the growing number of LGBTQ+ people in the workforce today, Max also covers the real business value of inclusion both internally and externally. Caste System The caste system is a type of hierarchy in which people are born into fixed social groups and while it is most well known as a feature of Indian society, caste systems exist across South Asia. Your caste can influence your occupation, who you can marry and how you are expected to interact with others and while the system originally just applied to Hindus it has since spread across all of Indian society. While it is now illegal to discriminate on the basis of caste in India, the caste system continues to exacerbate inequality, with members of lower castes being vastly underrepresented in education and formal employment.
