About the event

We Create Space is continuing to hold space for dialogue for our community to connect, reflect, and engage in meaningful conversations. Especially during challenging times.

Navigating Pride Pushback

With some companies globally stripping back on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion funding & initiatives, or removing them altogether, this space for dialogue will explore the potential pushback against Pride Month activities & engagement this year as June fast approaches.

As anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric continues to rise, we’ll discuss how these harmful trends impact queer communities around the world - our visibility, rights & freedom. We'll unpack sources of resistance alongside strategies for resilience across both professional workplaces & grassroots activism.

Join us for a crucial conversation as we share ways to ensure ongoing collective action & for LGBTQ+ inclusion & solidarity. What you can expect:

  • An honest conversation about what’s happening with DEI, a rise in anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, and the impact it has on our own communities as Pride season approaches.

  • Practical tips, tools, and strategies for you to use across different areas of your personal & professional life.

  • Small group discussions with other attendees to share personal experiences, challenges & wins, and foster global community.

These sessions are centred around community building in action as we come together for collective learning & sharing experiences, ideas & values. Let’s create spaces that reflect our best selves and hold space for people to bring their whole self to the conversation.

This session will be facilitated by Jon-Paul Vicari (he/him), Managing Director for We Create Space. Our guest speaker is Taylor Lianne-Chandler (she/her), activist, author, public speaker & advocate for intersex & trans rights. Taylor is also Chair for TGNC Initiatives for Capital Pride and a co-chair for the Human Rights Conference at World Pride.
