River
River Coello is a changemaker and storyteller. Their writing, speaking, and performance reimagine the margins as sites of possibility, honoring both tradition and innovation. River has spoken on themes of inclusion at the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning, and the Universities of Chicago, Kansas, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. They are also refining their latest poetry collection, HAMPI, set to be published by For the Birds Trapped in Airports Publishing Studio. River is proudly Ecuadorian-American, two-spirit, and disabled. They embrace Pachamama, their ManteƱo and Inca ancestors and teachers, and self and community care. They are currently based in Athens, Ohio.
