- Bex Wade
(they/them) Bex Bex is a trans non binary photographer based in London. For almost two decades, their work has documented queer lives in all their power and complexity. Bex began their career as a self-taught photographer documenting the clubs and parties of the LGBTQIA+ scenes in the UK and New York, before moving from the club into the street, documenting Pride and protest worldwide. In recent years, Bex has gravitated towards overlooked queer stories, refocusing on those minoritised within the LGBTQIA+ community. With a special focus on the trans community, Bex is one of the foremost documenters of the trans experience in the UK. Bex’s work worked for clients such as VICE, British Vogue, The New York, Minority Rights Group International, the UN, Dr Martens, Google and Getty. Most recently their work has been acquired by the Victoria & Albert Museum and multiple works will now reside in their extensive photography collections in addition to being exhibited permanently in the Young V&A. Since 2016, Josh has been actively engaged in community work, with a focus on exploring queer Black cultures, identities and experiences. He is the creator and host of the award-winning Busy Being Black podcast, and serves as the Head of Cultural Partnerships for UK Black Pride . Josh's work extends beyond the podcast, having worked with international LGBTQ human rights charities, including Kaleidoscope Trust and The Commonwealth Equality Network . He has also co-founded Series Q , a network for LGBTQ entrepreneurs, and volunteered for OutRight Action International 's Young People's Engagement Committee. In recognition of his contributions, Josh has been named one of the UK's most influential communications professionals in PRWeek 's 2022 Power Book and is a nominee for the 2023 British LGBT Awards ' Outstanding Contribution to LGBT Life. - Bias
Bias A prejudice in favour of or against one thing, person, or group. Brains automatically make quick judgments and assessments. They are influenced by our background, personal experiences, societal stereotypes and cultural context. It's not just about gender, ethnicity and other visible diversity characteristics such as height, body weight, names, and many other things can also trigger unconscious bias. Unconscious bias can have a significant influence on our attitudes and behaviours, especially towards other people. It can influence key decisions in the workplace and can contribute to inequality, for example in selection and recruitment, appraisals, or promotion. Understanding unconcious bias is key to understanding the origins of discrimination and inequalities which marginalised people are victim of. < Back to Glossary
- Class
Class Class is something that is impossible to ignore in wider society. However, class is rarely something that we speak about in relation to the Queer Community. We all know though, that class can have a profound impact on an individual's life experiences and the level of opportunities that are afforded to them. If a Queer person comes from a lower socio-economic ground, they may face additional layers of disadvantage and discrimination. It is our duty in the Queer Community and as allies to help lift each other up, and use our positions of privilege to ensure that we can help others in the community, and society more widely. < Back to Glossary
- Yasmin Benoit
(she/her) Yasmin Yasmin, a British model, asexual activist, writer, and speaker, is a leading voice for the asexual community. After coming out publicly in 2017, she quickly gained recognition as the "unlikely face of asexuality" by Cosmopolitan Magazine . Yasmin founded the #ThisIsWhatAsexualLooksLike movement to increase diverse asexual visibility and representation and co-founded International Asexuality Day on April 6. Her unconventional approach to activism has been covered by various British and international media outlets, including Vogue, MTV, Sky News, Paper Magazine, Attitude Magazine, and the BBC . In 2022, she collaborated with Stonewall to launch the Stonewall x Yasmin Benoit Ace Project , the UK's first asexual rights initiative. Yasmin's tireless work as an asexual activist earned her the 'Campaigner of the Year' award at the Rainbow Honours Awards . - Consent
Consent Permission for something to happen or agreement to do something. Within relationships, consent is vitally important when we consider physical intimacy and identity disclosure. This is something we should all campaign for, both within the Queer Community, but also wider society as a whole. It is also imperative that when someone shares personal information with us, that we only share this further with others after gaining consent (e.g. if someone discloses that they have a disability). < Back to Glossary

- Hierarchy
Hierarchy Hierarchy is a system in which people or things are placed in a series of levels with different importance, status, or influence. It is most often reflected in corporate organisations and establishmentarian government structures. The higher up a hierarchy structure we are, the more power, influence and privilege we usually hold. Recognising hierarchy (and by extension privilege) is the first step to dismantling systems of inequality, encouraging inclusion and positive change. - Minority Stress
Minority Stress Minority stress describes high levels of stress faced by members of stigmatised minority or marginalised groups. It may be caused by a number of factors, including poor social support, low socioeconomic status, social stigma, prejudice and discrimination.
